We are excited for the upcoming events, and celebrating our graduates. Take a look below for highlights from May and upcoming dates for June. <hr>SHS Spring Play Our SHS spring play, The Day the Internet Died was a huge hit with the audience. The show was engaging, fun, and provided lots of laughs! A huge thank you to our staff, Ms. Keene, Mr. Elliott, Ms. Dion, and Mr. MacDougall. We are so proud of our Relay for Life committee for their efforts in putting together a great event! Thank you to our students for fundraising and to our community for your generosity! <h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">What's Happening at Sydenham High School</h2><hr>Midterm Report CardsApril has been a busy month and as we move into May, we pass the halfway point of the semester. Midterm report cards were distributed this past Friday during period 1. If you have questions about your student's achievement, please reach out first to their classroom teacher. The schedule for June exams will be coming out shortly. Please ensure your student is available within the exam window (Grade 12: June 16 - 17; Grade 9 - 12: June 18 to 24th). <hr>SHS Spring Play - May 6, 7, 8We are very excited for the premier of our SHS spring play next week, The Day the Internet Died. Tickets are now available on School Day and on Ticket Scene! We have three evening shows on May 6, 7 and 8 at 7:00pm in the drama room. All ages are welcome. The show is approximately 80 minutes and there will be an intermission. See more information below on the story line, it will prove to be a fun, engaging show for all! <hr>SHS Bingo - Thank you! Thank you to all our supporters who attended our first SHS Bingo on April 22nd. We had a great turnout for a delicious meal and socializing with our community. We plan to run another Bingo in the fall, with proceeds going to enhance learning experiences for students at SHS. Pride Month Recognition in Limestone

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) Education Centre, along with schools across the district, is recognizing Pride Month in the KFL&A region by flying the Progress Pride Flag for the remainder of the school year.The Government of Canada notes that the manner in which the Canadian flag is displayed is not governed by legislation. The guidelines provided are not mandatory for individuals or organizations but are intended to offer general direction.After consultation and clarification from Heritage Canada and communication with trustees, LDSB schools with only one flagpole will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag for the balance of this school year.  Limestone’s goal will be to increase the number of schools with more than one flagpole and/or the addition of yardarms to existing flagpoles to display more than the Canadian flag. Until this goal is achieved, we will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag at sites with only one flagpole.Displaying the Progress Pride Flag is a way for LDSB to show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This recognition does not diminish our respect for Canada’s national flag; rather, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that all students, staff, and families feel welcomed, valued, and respected in Limestone schools.Flying the Progress Pride Flag is one example of how LDSB demonstrates its inclusive culture. As a publicly funded school board, we have both a legal and moral responsibility to create learning environments where everyone can see themselves reflected and feel a sense of belonging.

Grade 12 Exit Survey

As part of Ontario Ministry of Education expectations, all graduating students are provided with an opportunity to complete a Grade 12 Exit Survey. This survey gives students the chance to share their experiences in secondary school, their plans after graduation, and how prepared they feel for their next steps.The information collected helps schools and the Limestone District School Board better understand student needs and improve programs, guidance supports, and transition planning. In particular, the results are used to strengthen pathways into postsecondary education, apprenticeships, work, and community life, and to ensure future students are well-supported as they move beyond high school.The survey is voluntary and anonymous. All responses are combined and reported in a summarized format to protect student privacy. Results are used for system planning and are shared with school staff, and board leadership to support ongoing improvement.
