November Update

The past month was another busy one at SHS with so much school spirit. We hosted our Parent/Guardian Night, Academic Awards, and our fall Pep Rally! It was a month to recognize Spirit, Heritage, and Success. Thank you to our student council for organizing a very fun spirit week prior to Halloween. Student Council is now busy planning the month ahead with fundraising efforts for Youth United, our Remembrance Day Assembly, and wellness activities for every Wednesday in November.

Remembrance Day

On November 11th, SHS will honour and recognize all those who have served and continue to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces. The freedoms we enjoy today were secured by generations of Canadians who answered the call to serve, many of whom never came home. At SHS, our Student Council has planned a ceremony that thoughtfully recognizes the contributions of members of the CAF in our school community. Our ceremony begins at 10:40 AM this Nov. 11th.

Fall Athletics

As our fall season wraps up, we want to congratulate our Girl's Field Hockey team winning Silver at KASSAA this past month. We also are ready to cheer on many of our fall teams who are starting play-offs today - you can catch quarterfinal action at SHS with JR Football kicking off at 3 PM, JR Girls Basketball on the court at 4 PM, and our SR Girls Basketball team at 5:30 PM. Our JR Boys Volleyball team is on the road to Holy cross. Remember you can watch our athletes compete live on our new Hudl filming system. Good luck to all our teams!

This is an easy way to fundraise some extra money for our school. Once you sign up, you can earn money back on things you already buy, like groceries, gas, dining, travel, and more. The school earns a percentage on everything with no extra cost to the buyer. Sign up here to start earning. If you are already a Flip Give user, you can also put in the following code to join our school team: RW22VLJ2JGPQ

Score Clock

We are beginning to fundraise for a new score clock for our Football Field. We are looking for donations and sponsors to help us! If you know of any local businesses who would be interested, share this letter of interest. We also accept donations to our Charitable Trust, which means that tax receipts can be issued for any donation.

Woodshop Donations

Our woodshop students have been busy building and continue to look for ways to contribute to our school community.

Projects for your home

Here are some samples of projects completed in the past. Students are willing and able to design, provide a project quote, and build as part of their learning. Consider reaching out to teacher Nick Allinson (allinsonn@limestone.on.ca) or contact the school 613 376-3612 if you need something built and designed by our students.

Lumber

A huge shout out and thank-you to Ryan at LaRochelle Drywall and Sean Williams for their very generous recent donations to the woodshop. The students benefit immensely from having real world materials, and higher quality wood than we would be able to provide on our own. We are always looking to receive donations for materials or to fulfil projects that you have in mind. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Nick if you have any questions or materials to donate, we appreciate your support.
