- This announcement is for every guy in the school who plays ice hockey and likes to have fun with friend. No matter what grade you are in or what your skill level is, you are invited to an information meeting in Mr. Cook’s classroom (room 107) at the beginning of lunch tomorrow to find out about school house league and varsity hockey programs here at SHS. If you can’t make the meeting, then please see Mr. Cook anytime in room 107 to get the info and find out how to register.

- Attention all guys who play hockey. Today is the day! Please come to a meeting today at the beginning of lunch in Mr. Cook’s classroom (that’s room 107) to find out about the competitive varsity team, but also the school house league that is just for fun. Can’t make the meeting, just drop by and see Mr. Cook anytime.

- This is an announcement for anyone interested in trying out for the Junior Boys basketball team. There will be a brief meeting today at the beginning of lunch in room 104. If you are unable to make the meeting please see Mr. Grew when you can.
- Student council- for the month of November we will be having “wellness Wednesday” each week. Each week we will have a wellness tip as well as an activity each Wednesday. This week’s wellness tip is get outside for some fresh air and sunshine. Today, you can meet Mr. Smith in the front foyer and go for a walk on the trail during lunch.
- Youth united supports at risk youth and those facing difficult home lives across Canada. They partner with schools and communities to fundraise for meaningful causes. To fundraise, we are selling milkshakes on school day. You can purchase them for $2.50 anytime before Thursday November 12th. They will be handed out on Thursday, November 19th

- Congratulations to the Junior Boys Volleyball who won their KASSAA Quarter Final last night beating Holy Cross 3 sets to zero. For the second year in a row the Jr. Boys have finished in the top 4 in a 12 team league. They hope to advance to the KASSAA Finals tomorrow as they travel to KSS to play in the Semi Final game at 5:30.
- There will be an open gym for any junior girls interested in trying out for the junior girls volleyball team tomorrow from 2:40-4:10 in the main gym. Tryouts will start next week on Monday and Tuesday. Scan the QR code to register for tryouts. Posters will be put up later today or tomorrow.
- All students on the musical theatre field trip today, please head straight to the bus right after period 2.
- Congrats to the JR FOOTBALL Golden Eagles on their quarter final win against REGI yesterday. Great job overall and good luck in the semis on Monday.

- A reminder that on Monday, there will be a meeting for anyone interested in trying out for our Girls Varsity Hockey team. We will meet at the start of lunch in room 110. If you cannot make it, see Mrs. Slate or Aymee in Student Services.
- This week was treaty recognition week. A treaty is a special and sacred agreement made between Nations. In what is currently called Canada, First Nations and the Crown made treaties to share the land, protect rights, and support one another. For Indigenous Peoples, treaties were made in ceremony and were meant to last as long as the sun shines, the grass grows, and the rivers flow. Treaties remind us to live in a good way, honour our commitments, and care for Mother Earth.
For example, the Two Row Wampum Treaty, was one of the first agreements between the Haudenosaunee and European newcomers. The wampum belt has two purple lines representing two paths: a European ship and an Indigenous canoe, travelling side-by-side without interfering with each other.
This teaches us about respect, peace, and partnership. We continue to honour this teaching by respecting each other’s identities, cultures, and responsibilities.
