Grade 12 Exit Survey

As part of Ontario Ministry of Education expectations, all graduating students are provided with an opportunity to complete a Grade 12 Exit Survey. This survey gives students the chance to share their experiences in secondary school, their plans after graduation, and how prepared they feel for their next steps.

The information collected helps schools and the Limestone District School Board better understand student needs and improve programs, guidance supports, and transition planning. In particular, the results are used to strengthen pathways into postsecondary education, apprenticeships, work, and community life, and to ensure future students are well-supported as they move beyond high school.

The survey is voluntary and anonymous. All responses are combined and reported in a summarized format to protect student privacy. Results are used for system planning and are shared with school staff, and board leadership to support ongoing improvement.

Message from the Director

Dear Families,

As we enter the spring season and final third of the school year, we are reminded of this season’s promise of renewal and growth, and the key role schools and families have together in supporting student learning and well-being. This time of year brings many opportunities for learning both inside and outside of the classroom, along with the return of outdoor extracurricular activities. While this week has been very wet and rainy, the warmer temperatures of spring are upon us. I would like to take this opportunity to share a few important updates with you:

P.A. Day – Friday, April 17

A reminder to families that tomorrow, Friday, April 17, is a P.A. Day. Canadian U16 Team Ice Stock

This summer marks a truly historic moment for stock sport in Canada.

For the first time ever, a Canadian U16 team will compete on the international stage, travelling to Oberwart, Austria—the heartland of Eisstock—to represent Canada at an International Ice Stock Federation youth tournament. This semester so far, students have been busy asking big questions, testing ideas, and occasionally discovering that not every experiment goes exactly as planned, but that is often where the best learning happens.

Our Grade 9 and 10 science classes, led by Mr. Nash, Ms. May, and Mr. Smith, are building strong foundations across biology, chemistry, physics, and earth and space science. From investigating ecosystems and exploring the particle theory of matter to studying electricity and climate systems, students are developing the skills to think critically and understand the world around them.

For our seniors, Ms. Kresin’s Chemistry classes are exploring atoms, bonding, and reactions, and learning why some combinations work beautifully while others don’t. Mr. Walsh’s physics classes are investigating motion, energy, and forces, while confirming something we already know, what goes up must come down! In Biology, Mr. Cashol has students delving into the complexity of living systems, from cells and genetics to body systems, with an emphasis on how the human body functions and maintains balance. Ms. May’s Health Science class is examining human health, disease, and the impact of lifestyle choices and medical advances on overall well-being. In Environmental Science, Mr. Smith’s students are studying human impacts on the environment and sustainability while engaging in discussions around real-world solutions to environmental challenges.

Our classrooms and labs are full of hands-on activities, problem-solving, and plenty of “why does this happen?” or "what went wrong"? moments. We continue to emphasize safe lab practices, critical thinking, and the ability to make sense of evidence as these are invaluable skills that extend well beyond any science class.

Science reminds us that in the real world, curiosity can spark in unexpected ways.
