What's Happening at Sydenham High School


May has flown by and June proves to be just as busy with all the year end activities. We are excited for the upcoming events, and celebrating our graduates. Take a look below for highlights from May and upcoming dates for June.


SHS Spring Play

Our SHS spring play, The Day the Internet Died was a huge hit with the audience. The show was engaging, fun, and provided lots of laughs! A huge thank you to our staff, Ms. Keene, Mr. Elliott, Ms. Dion, and Mr. MacDougall. We can't wait to see what the future holds for our next production.

Relay for Life

On May 27th, 2026, our school participated in Relay for Life to support cancer research. We are so proud of our Relay for Life committee for their efforts in putting together a great event! Thank you to our students for fundraising and to our community for your generosity! We raised over $32000 for Cancer Research!!

Girl's Rugby

Our Girls Sr team made it to EOSSAA on home turf after a great season. They played a competitive game against a strong LSS team and lost by 2 points. Our Jr Girls team played in the KASSAA final, earning a silver medal!! Congrats to our girls on successful seasons and thank you to our coaches!

Syd"s Cafe

Our tradition of Syd's Cafe continued this spring with a show to highlight our SHS students. The audience was entertained listening to amazing performances with a Canadian theme! Thank you to Mr. McDougall and Mr. Hammer for organizing and playing!

Yearbooks

SHS 2025-2026 Yearbooks are now on sale! Yearbooks are $40. You can order online through school day https://www.school-day.com/ Order deadline is June 25th, 2026.

The yearbooks will be distributed in September 2026.

Next year, our daily schedule will be changing to the following balanced day with two classes in the morning, a lunch break, and two classes in the afternoon. Our afternoon classes will still rotate every other week (Week A: 1234 and Week B: 1243).

Also, the new school year calendar was released for next year and we will be starting back at school on Sept. 2, 2026. See full calendar below.

Concussion Protocol


SHS is committed to student safety, injury prevention, and well-being, and supports concussion awareness, prevention, identification, management, tracking, and training. Our point of contact is Ms. Ash Ward, Vice Principal.

Our LDSB Concussion Policy/Concussion Code of Conduct is here as well to ensure we work together to support our students if a concussion is suspected or diagnosed.
