Lest We Forget

Let We Forget
Every year on November 11, Canadians pauses in a moment of silence to honour and remember the men and women who served and continue to serve Canada during times of war, conflict, and peace.

November 08, marks Aboriginal Veterans Day, honouring and remembering the First Nations, Inuit and Métis people – past and present – who have served our country with great pride and sacrificed for our freedom.

November 09th, SHS staff and students will come together to remember the more than 2.3 Million Canadians who have served throughout our nation’s history and the more than 118,000 who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The year 2018 sees the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1.

On Sunday, November 11th, we encourage our staff and students to attend a local Remembrance Day ceremony in their community with local veterans and current serving members.

Show veterans and families of the fallen or injured that you remember.

Alternatively, take a few minutes to visit the Veterans Affairs Canada website and listen to veteran stories under the Get to Know Your Veterans.
